PTE modules

Speaking & Writing

The test lasts for 54-67 minutes and consists of seven types of questions.

Listening

This module tests your ability to understand spoken English in different contexts and accents. You will listen to various recordings and answer questions based on them. The recordings are played only once and last for 30-43 minutes. The questions are of various types, such as summarize spoken text, multiple choice questions, fill the blanks, highlight the correct summary, select missing word, highlight incorrect words, and write from dictation.

Reading

This module tests your ability to read and comprehend different types of texts in English. You will be given various texts and questions based on them. The test lasts for 29-30 minutes and consists of five types of questions: reading and writing: fill in the blanks, multiple choice questions (multiple answers), re-order paragraph, reading: fill in the blanks, and multiple choice questions (single answer).

What is the difference between PTE Academic and PTE General?

Briefly, IELTS academic is for students who wish to study abroad and IELTS General is just for immigration purpose. IELTS General will not be accepted by abroad universities for admission. And they differ in their sections of tests.

PTE Academic

  • The PTE academic is a three-hour test.
  • It assesses the candidates’ ability to listen, read, talk, and write.
  • There are 20 questions in total in the PTE academic test, which are divided into three sections.
  • Analytical interpretation, multiple choice questions, or essay prompts are examples of possible inquiries.

PTE General

  • PTE General is not a computer based test.
  • It has two parts – Interview and written part.
